BURMA KNOW-HOW

QUESTION OF PASSION

It was in 1991 that Bruno Zarcate, shareholder of the House, regained control of the family business created in 1927. For this wise visionary, the strength of Burma is to defend excellence while claiming creativity and a unique image . Each Burma store has its own specificity. For Bruno Zarcate, the very strong stylistic challenge coincides with exceptional know-how. “Burma works with gold and silver, calls on the best creators, as well as artisans whose expertise is an absolute guarantee of quality. » By reducing the number of references, Bruno Zarcate chose the royal road, defended since 1976 with the introduction of BurmaliteTM, an infinite range of synthetic gems which have given the brand its unrivaled reputation.
“Luxury locations, unique know-how, offerings in tune with the times and customer desires” Bruno Zarcate

WORKSHOPS

The Burma workshops have been perpetuating perfection linked to the French tradition of excellence for more than ninety years.

EXPERTISE

STEP 1

THE MODEL

It all starts with the drawing, the starting point for a creation that requires know-how and passion. From the precision of the lines and curves placed on the paper emerge Burma creations, ultimate expressions of a dream come true.

2ND STEP

LOST WAX CASTING

Lost wax casting is a traditional technique that the Egyptians already used in Antiquity. It allows, once the model has been molded in the rubber, thanks to a pressure vulcanization process at high temperature, to inject wax into the empty mold, in order to produce a model conforming to the original (always in gold or in silver). The wax is mounted on a tree, and then placed in a cylinder, which is put in the oven for 12 hours. The precious metal will then be cast at 1000°C, so that the jewelry can be unmolded after cooling.

STEP 3

THE MAKING OF THE JEWEL

“Raw cast”, the jewel is prepared, that is to say welded, filed, sawn, before being set. High precision work for the craftsman whose role is to bring out expression from the material, with instruments sometimes made to measure.

STEP 4

CRIMPING

Its function is to highlight the stone, in order to enhance its brilliance. The craftsman digs claws to fit the stone in the bezel, positions it, before folding the claws.

STEP 5

POLISHING

It allows gold and silver to sparkle, because the piece received, after so many manipulations, is polished and without shine. Brushes, wires, polishing pastes are necessary to “enliven” the jewelry in order to restore its shine.

STEP 6

FINISHES

They go through the verification of each piece of jewelry, and through high quality control.

BURMALITE™

It is with the greatest care that Burma selects the finest qualities of Zircon Oxide, which it has presented since 1976 under the name BurmaliteTM, a registered designation.

Each Burmalite™ has a unique character: a synthetic gem obtained in the laboratory using very elaborate processes, BurmaliteTM is similar to gems of extreme hardness, without impurities and whose intense brilliance exalts the desire for endless adornments .

SYNTHETIC DIAMONDS

Like the synthetic sapphires, rubies and emeralds that have adorned Burma creations for nearly 50 years, synthetic diamonds have the same chemical, physical and optical properties as diamonds. They are of extreme quality, as each of the synthetic gems used by Burma has always been. Raised in the laboratory using different technological processes, the synthetic diamonds from the Comme une Plume and Enlacé collections are exclusively D, E, F colors and VS+ purity.

THE STONES

Emerald, Princess, Brilliant, Heart, Pear, Marquise, Cushion cut... It all starts with the choice of stones, and perfect control of the sizes.

If Burma offers a wide variety of gems, the House can also create its tailor-made cuts. Furthermore, Burma holds the manufacturing secrets of the famous synthetic corundums, in a color chart of ruby red and sapphire blue.

(rubies and sapphires being varieties of corundum in their natural state), but also synthetic beryls (from the lightest to the deepest emerald green). BurmaliteTM comes in an infinite range of colors that reflect emotions as well as personalities.
